Restoration
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction
Anatomical Double-Bundle or Single-Bundle reconstruction
The standard single bundle ACL reconstruction does not create the same kinematics as the intact ACL in normal activities. Only anteroposterior stability seems to be reconstructed. Single-bundle ACL reconstruction does not recreate normal rotation in the knee.
In the double-bundle technique, the ACL is reconstructed using two graft bundles as the normal link. The benefits of this technique are:
- Normal ACL contains two functional beams, which is achieved with this technique
- Restores better knee stability
- Allows the graft to be better managed as each person has their own special structure
Rehabilition
- 1 day after the surgery: walk with crutches and knee brace
- 1 month after the surgery: remove the crutches
- 1,5 month after the surgery: remove the knee brace
- 3 months after the surgery: jogging and running straight
- 9 months after the surgery: sports specific exercises and functional training
- 9-12 months after the surgery: gradual reintegration to sports
It should be noted that this guide is personally tailored to each patient by the surgeon, depending on the progress made in the recovery from the accompanying damages of the initial injury and other factors that may affect the graft repair.
Anatomic placement of the implant should pay particular attention to the time of application of the restorative methods because the forces exerted in this case are greater since it was placed where the normal ACL was located by the technique of non-anatomic implant placement.
